Guns Into Roses: A Prayer For Afghanistan

Afghanistan is the ancient source of Lapis Lazuli, symbol of the Heavens and Deity. A Lapis Lazuli cabochon centres the flower, which is created from 1.0 mm brass wire. Hillside Hotel (where I was Artist-in-Residence 2010-2012) is situated on a Conservation Estate, and runs a Pest Management Program to reduce/eliminate the introduced pests which destroy the area's native plants and birds. The brass 30-30 shell, which inspired 'Guns Into Roses, is recycled from one area of the Program. |
